How To Choose A Hoover Vacuum Filter?

Almost all the great vacuums is using a vacuum filter. Some of them using normal/standard filter while other is using higher efficiency HEPA filter.

Hoover vacuum cleaner owners should always choose genuine Hoover filters when it is time to replace. Replacing your filter at the first sign of wear can significantly increase the life of your machine, as well as keep dirt, dust, and allergens out of the air. Hoover offers two types of filters based on your preference. Standard and HEPA filters are available, depending on your preference.

Once you have consulted with the owner’s manual of your vacuum filter, find the serial number for the filter to determine the correct size of filter you will need. Once you have done this, you can better decide which of the two types of filters are the best for your needs.

A HEPA, or high efficiency particulate air, is a high efficiency filter. These types of filters are great for people who suffer from asthma or allergies. Removing 99.97% of airborne particles from the air, these filters come with MERV standards of 1 to 20. MERV standards measure the overall effectiveness of the filter. The higher the MERV score the better the filter will be at removing dust and particles from the filter. You should look for a filter with a rating of 0.3% or greater. There are true HEPA filters and HEPA type filters. Only true HEPA filters meet standards set above, but the HEPA type filters remove 80% of dust. A true HEPA filter may be a bit more expensive. A HEPA filter may be right for you if you suffer from health problems and do not mind paying the extra money.

A standard filter helps prevent allergens and particules from escaping but do not offer as much protection in removing them as a HEPA filter. These type filters work with any vacuum cleaner and cost less than a HEPA filter. They may require replacement more often. When choosing a standard filter, look for a filter that is double layered to prevent leakage.

If there are no asthma, allergy, or other health issues in your household, a standard filter may be all you require, however, the HEPA filters offer extra protection to prevent future complications. In addition you should use your vacuum cleaner as a guide for buying a filter. A more powerful cleaner may require a higher performance filter.
